I woke up yesterday morning and began my normal routine of coffee and eggs, and then began scrolling through the barrage of emails on my Blackberry.  With 50+ emails waiting to be read I initially skimmed right past the announcement from LinkedIn.  However, when I later sat down at my computer I realized what an important announcement this was and the profound impact this will have on how companies interact with clients and prospect on the LinkedIn network. Here’s a breakdown of the updates and how you can implement them on your Company Profile.

Exactly like your LinkedIn Profile, you can now post status updates to your LinkedIn Company Profile.  Check out these great new features:

  • Post updates directly from your company overview page.

This will allow you to keep your company followers in the loop.  It will also increase your company’s exposure as each post is displayed in a follower’s newsfeed.

  • Share company announcements, product releases, promotions, and other news.

The ability to post content to your company page and with your company followers allows you to share content that you were previously unable to share on the company page.

  • Engage directly with your followers and possibly their entire network.

This is possibly the best new feature to the company pages – adding the ability to engage with your followers and potentially their network is the key to your social media strategy.

  • Optimize the conversation by seeing which updates are most engaging.

Much like other social networking outlets that provide digital forums for their followers, the updates to the LinkedIn Company Profiles allow you to manage the conversations within the company page and ensure that you’re getting the most engaging messages onto the forum.

You can take advantage of these new features immediately, but make sure you are designated as an administrator, as updates can only be made by company administrators when the Company Page is set to “Designated Admins Only”.  If you have any questions regarding the updates drop us a line, and be sure to follow Financial Social Media on LinkedIn.
