After receiving an influx of responses to our online question of how are Thanksgiving and social media similar, we’ve decided that the best response was from @LiveWholeBeFree: “Thanksgiving and social media are similar in that they both have the ability to deter you from a workout!” Oh, so true! While both social media and holiday meals have rather distracting tendencies, we found that the preparation behind both is the driving factor to their success. Both social media and Thanksgiving require time and effort to put together and plan a successful event or stream of interactions. Think about it – how would a family Thanksgiving turn out if the meal wasn’t planned out and timed correctly? You’d probably end up eating your turkey much later than expected. The same goes for your social media strategy – without a timeline and framework in place you’ll most likely not see the results you’d like.
It’s for this reason that we’ve decided to share with you our daily social media engagement strategy checklist. Not only is this the framework that we at Financial Social Media use, but it’s also available for your use as well. Feel free to print it out and post it in a visible area where you can be reminded to stay on track and utilize the social media timeline features.

Keep in mind that not everyone’s timelines will be the same based upon target audiences and industries. The key is to start with the checklists we’ve provided you and then monitor and track your results. Doing so will allow you to discover what works best for you and your organization. Programs like Google Analytics and Hootsuite Analytic Reports give you the ability to see visual results of your social media efforts, thus allowing you to change your strategy based on negative and positive results. If you have any questions or think we’ve missed anything please let us know!
